Portugal is one of the countries that host the Grand Prix of the Formula 1 World Championship as well as other national and international motor racing events. The Good Portugal team has prepared for you a selection of the best racetracks in Portugal.

Racetrack Autódromo do Estoril

The municipality of Cascais is home to the Autódromo do Estoril, with the second name Circuito do Estoril. The racetrack was the main circuit until 2008. After the construction of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve it fell into the background. The circuit was built in 1972 near Estoril. For more than 10 years, from 1984 to 1996, this circuit hosted the Formula 1 Portuguese Grand Prix. The circuit covers 52 hectares.

The length of the circuit is 4460 meters.

Number of turns – 13: includes 4 left turns and 9 right turns.

Has a 1st class license of the FIA International Automobile Federation.

It has a Class 1 license from the FIA International Automobile Federation.

  • World Camp Fim Junior GP, MotoGP™ World Junior Motorsport Championship.
  • The ESBK Spanish Motorcycling Championship.
  • World Superbike Championship World Superbike Championship.

There are also Estoril Experience Day track days, organized by CRM Motorsport together with Circuito do Estoril and Motor Clube do Estoril. Its main objective is to give speed enthusiasts the opportunity to use their vehicles in a suitable infrastructure, in safety and in the company of their families. All Estoril Experience Day drivers/pilots must have a national FPAK license and insurance.

Racetrack Autódromo Internacional do Algarve

The Algarve International Circuit, also known as the Portimao Circuit, is located near Portimao in Sitio do Escampadinho in the district of Mexiglioira Grande. It is not just a track – it is a whole complex in one physical space: a race track, a karting track, an off-road track, a hotel, a residential complex, a technology park and a sports complex. It was founded in 2008. The natural terrain with many descents and ascents, as well as straight stretches of road with alternating sharp turns, made this track one of the most difficult in the world.

The AIA track offers 32 different configurations with a perimeter ranging from 3,465 to 4,684 meters.

The number of turns is 16: including 7 left turns and 9 right turns.

It has a Class 1 license from the FIA International Automobile Federation.

Equipment of the complex:

Grandstands with a capacity of 72942 people. Room for briefing. Media center with a capacity of up to 400 journalists, TVs, timekeeping and live images from the race. Paddock of about 80,000 square meters, with plumbing and drainage. The Five restaurant and bars. Business center with six offices for rent and two conference rooms.

The Algarve Race Resort residential complex offers T1, T2 apartments and a premium 5-star hotel with 75 rooms. A spa with an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, Scottish shower and Turkish bath is available.

The Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve offers a series of programs designed for adults, children, amateurs or professionals looking for fun or preparation for official competitions.

Test platform for testing cars and motorcycles, technical driving courses and wet-road tests.

Off-Road Track includes three off-road courses. The track is designed to combine all kinds of motorsports and motorsports: speed, off-road and rally. The track is 5180 meters long, includes 45 turns, including 22 right turns and 23 left turns.

Driving School AIA RACING SCHOOL offers to auto sport lovers a great opportunity to enjoy a safe learning experience behind the wheel of a dream car. For example to experince yourself as a Formula 1 driver it will cost you from 8,487 euro while to sit behind the wheel and drive 2 laps in Porsche 911 GT3 will cost from 485 euro.Become a passenger on 2 laps will cost from 115 euro on the car and from 299 euro on the motorcycle.

There are also track days when you can drive your own vehicle around the track, the cost of 7 laps from 175 euros.

  • Finetwork FIM Junior GP World Championship, which gives access to the Moto GP championship.
  • The World Superbike Championship.
  • The European Le Mans Series endurance competition for 24 hours and others.

Racetrack Circuito de Braga

The Pista de Velocidade Vasco Sameiro speedway is located in the municipality of Braga. Owned by Clube Automóvel do Minho, it mainly hosts national competitions. The circuit was built in 1990.

Track length: 3020 meters.

Number of turns – 13: includes 7 left turns and 6 right turns.

It has the third class license of the FIA International Automobile Federation.

Often held track days for speed lovers with their vehicles. The cost varies from 50 to 100 euros. Privately, you can rent a Ferrari supercar and drive around the track.

Racetrack Circuito Automóvel de Vila Real

The street circuit was created in 1931. Races take place on the difficult hillsides of the municipality of Vila Real. It became an international circuit in 2007.

Temporary city circuit is 4790 meters long.

Number of turns – 28: includes 16 right and 12 left turns.

The track is equipped with stands for spectators. Barriers for spectators’ safety are installed along the track.

The WTCR RACE OF PORTUGAL is held each year at this circuit.
